Testimonies

“Tutoring second graders in reading this last year was often very difficult, but I know that I want to continue to do it, because through prayer I witnessed God working in in their little hearts. Not only did the reading skills improve, but more importantly, I saw some of the kids grow in character and interest in the Lord.”

~Tanja

“I heard this story the other day, about 3 children from PT that wanted to go to Black Rock church in the morning, but the van was full, so they couldn’t go. About a half hour later, those 3 kids walked through the front door of church. They had walked the 4 and a half miles to get there. That’s dedication, and that’s Jesus working in their lives. It goes to show that these are children looking for a little hope, unconditional love, positive attention…and above all they are looking for Jesus.”

~Jess

“I see God’s grace in the smiles of the children every time I see them.  It’s so easy to forget that His blessings are everywhere in this city”
~Bill

“It was a challenging adventure to tutor my first graders. And yet, it helped me to become a more patient and understanding person. I am thankful that the Lord kept teaching me each week to learn to love the kids and see how much they need this kind of support. I am so glad to have done it and definately want to come back!”
~Adara

A quote by Jim Wallis sums it up:

“It’s in the places where you not supposed to belong that you will learn the most. It’s with the people you were never supposed to meet that you come to understand the world better…and it’s in those people that you really encounter Jesus in a way you never knew him before…”

It’s so beautifully said, so simply so true and I am happy and proud to be a part of Kid Power and have this wonderful experience in my life. It made me a better person, more respectful, allowed me experience life on a completely different level, I just needed to try and come out of my comfort zone! So thank you for that.  And everything else!
